Marmarosh Ridge is a wild corner of the Carpathian Mountains, through which passes the border between Ukraine and Romania. This is a remote ridge, where nature has been preserved in all its pristine beauty. During the hike to Marmarosy we will enjoy the murmuring of mountain streams, walk along a narrow trail on the ridge of the rocky Popa Ivan Marmarosy, we will see the ancient forms of glacial relief. Another highlight of this route - the sunsets and sunrises of incredible beauty! Marmarosy is one of the must-see places for every Ukrainian tourist, because it is not in vain that this region is called the "Hutsul Alps".
We do not cancel or reschedule groups. If the manager has given permission to buy a ticket, you can buy it with confidence. There will be no cancellation through our fault.

The teamleader will meet you at the train station of Ivano-Frankivsk, and with him you will travel to the mountains in a previously ordered comfortable transport.
The hike to the Marmaros is not very difficult, because we will not climb all the peaks of this ridge, but mainly bypass them by traverse. But this will not diminish your experience and the scenery you see on this hike. You will discover a whole new Carpathians!
The participants gather at the railway station of Ivano-Frankovsk until 10 am. After a short introduction, we move by chartered bus to the village Delovoye, near which is the geographical center of Europe. Upon arrival, the Team Leader at the frontier post fills out passes and registers the group to the route - the hike will take place right on the state border with Romania. After that we set off on our way. We go up along the mountain stream White, which breaks its way in a rocky gorge. Gradually we gain altitude until we come to the source of the stream. Here, on a picturesque forest glade, we stay for the night.
We have a tasty breakfast and start climbing up a wooded spur. At first we will ascend through the picturesque beech forest, and later it will be replaced by slender thick fir trees. Slowly walking along the path, we gradually emerge from the coniferous forest to the picturesque glade with wonderful views of surrounding mountains and gorges.
The crocuses are the first to bloom in spring on the Foxglove, and later they are replaced by a pink riot of rhododendrons. In June, they literally cover the steep slopes of Pop Ivan Marmarosh with a magnificent fragrant carpet. In the summer, shepherds graze sheep on Fox's Lodge, and if we are lucky, we will try some real bryndza. And the real reward for today will be a wonderful sunset over the mountain ranges.
The most important and at the same time difficult day of our trip, because today we will climb the highest peak of the hike - Mount Pop Ivan Marmaros (1936 m). We'll get up with the first rays of the sun, after breakfast we'll pack our tents and get ready for a breathtaking experience :) The ascent is pretty steep, but the views are worth it!
From the top of a great view of the Ukrainian and Romanian mountains. When the weather is good on the horizon you can see even the high peaks of Rodnian Alps - similar, but much longer mountain range in Romania. The trail goes upward and brings us to the pre-peak ridge. The northern slopes of Pop Ivan Marmaroshsky are quite steep and drop down almost steep walls. The trail leads us to the summit on a sharp ridge.
Now we can go with one foot (right foot :) in the neighboring country, because the whole day we will move along the Ukrainian-Romanian border. We will stay overnight at a forest clearing with an excellent view of the northern slopes of Pop Ivan Marmarosh.
The first peak for today will be Mount Mezhipotoki. From it you can clearly see both Pop Ivan Marmaroshsky and the Chernogorskii ridge. Far away on the horizon we can see the silhouettes of two iconic peaks - Hoverla and Petros. Below, among dense forests, you can see glades - these are glades, where shepherds pasture their sheep.
We move further along the ridge, and soon we come to Neniaska mountain. From it as on the palm of your hand we can see the Romanian peaks Farkeu and Mihajlek. And somewhere in the saddle between them at an altitude of 1660 m lurks mountain lake Vinderel. Beyond Neniaska the road goes to the traverse of the ridge, occasionally entering the forest. It will take us to Stog summit - a kind of a road for routes. From Stog to the northeast of the border with Romania, there is also the ridge of Civciny, a fairly wild and less visited place. We will go north from Stog in the direction of the Chernogorskii ridge. We will stay overnight at Radul polony.
Today we will go down from the ridge to the headwaters of the Shibeny stream and along it we will approach the village of the same name. We will be surrounded by dense coniferous forest, where you can look for mushrooms. There will be a couple of small fords - the road goes right by the river bed. In the evening, we will approach the village of Shibene and stay overnight in a spacious glade on the river bank.
We wake up, have breakfast and slowly pack our backpacks. After all, today we have to walk just a couple of kilometers to the village. We will go back to Ivano-Frankivsk by chartered bus. We'll have a walk around the city, and, after a delicious dinner in a local cafe, we sum up the results of our mountain adventures :)
Depending on the weather conditions, condition and general wishes of the group, the teamleader has the right to make changes to the route.
The Carpathians are a very rainy region, and the Montenegro ridge is no exception. So we must be prepared for anything - take a raincoat for sure! Also on the ridge is often a strong wind. Depending on the weather during the day can be both hot and cool. Most of the camps are high-rise, and even summer evenings and nights will be cold - don't forget to take a hat and gloves!

As always, we recommend that you buy tickets in advance, although there are often vacant seats on trains a week before the start of the hike. You should buy your ticket so that you'll be at the train station in Ivano-Frankovsk by 10 a.m. on the day of the start of the hike. A slight delay is acceptable. Back you buy a ticket for the evening, best of all for 20-22 hours, then you'll have time to walk around Frankovsk and have a drink in one of its pubs. Buy tickets is worth it only after our confirmation of your participation in the hike. You can do this at the ticket offices at the railway station or online on the website "Ukrzaliznytsia".
The meeting place of the group is the waiting room of the Ivano-Frankovsk railway station. The time is determined by the last arriving participant, usually it's 10 am. About 5-7 days before the hike we will send you by e-mail the exact time of the meeting and the contacts of the team leader. Don't forget to check your mail!
The weather in the Carpathians is very changeable, so you should prepare for its surprises in advance. The first thing you should remember is that it rains a lot here, so you should bring a raincoat and a rain cover for your backpack. Second - in the evenings, especially at high-altitude parking lots, it may be cool. Take with you a hat, gloves and jacket.
Surely you are wondering what we will eat on a hike? Let's just say that you don't have to worry. Many participants say they eat better on the hike than they do at home. The basis of the menu is a simple meal of cereals and soups. You should not count on gourmet delicacies (although they can be).
If you do not eat any products, be sure to inform the manager so that the guide can slightly adjust the menu for you. We also recommend taking some yummies with you - nuts or sweets. Appetite on a hike is much better than at home.
Please note that the menu shown is indicative only. Guides usually have their signature dishes that they love to pamper participants with. And if you have dishes that you would like to receive on a hike, be sure to tell the manager about it, as the guide may have completely different preferences.

When you arrive in Ivano-Frankivsk, go to 10. The food here is extremely tasty, the portions are huge, and the prices are small. If the 10 is busy, you can eat at another pub, too. Sitting down together for a delicious meal and a glass of beer is a great ending to a great outing. With that in mind, it's best to buy your tickets back for the evening - about 20-22 hours.
The program has mandatory additional costs for transfers. Their amount you can check with the manager, as it depends on the cost of fuel and is constantly changing.
There are also optional expenses. Participants buy dried porcini mushrooms, souvenirs, and like to have dinner in a restaurant (for example, in the legendary "Ten"). Minimum recommend to take from 300 hryvnias. And the maximum is up to you.
