Hike in Georgia with accommodation in huts – briefly about the route
Easy hiking in Svaneti without tents and big backpacks
Classical hiking routes in Svaneti involve living in tents and day hikes with heavy backpacks. Such a format of traveling doesn't suit everybody, that's why we worked out the route of this hike in Svaneti without tents and big backpacks. There we will stay in Svanetian guesthouses in mountain villages. We will have breakfast and dinner there, which will give us a possibility to enjoy local cuisine during the whole trip. We will carry only light backpacks, which also adds to our comfort.

In addition to these aspects, we tried to make the route easier by transferring: we excluded uninteresting crossings and long climbing, replacing them with transfers. This also made it possible to include in the program more interesting places, so that the richness and beauty of the hike is not inferior to the traditional hiking programs in Svaneti. If you want to go hiking, but have doubts about your physical condition, or just want to spend your hiking tour as comfortably as possible – choose this option!
Hiking in Georgia with accommodation in tents – briefly about the routes
Backpacking in Svaneti
Svaneti is a famous mountainous region of Georgia, which draws enormous popularity among hikers. Even the most experienced travelers will be delighted by the local beauties: snow-covered five-thousanders with sharp peaks, massive ancient glaciers, bubbling mountain rivers, picturesque meadows will not leave anyone unimpressed. And the highlight of these places are numerous medieval stone towers, thanks to which the region is included in the list of UNESCO cultural heritage.

We have developed an optimal variant of hiking tour in Svaneti, which will give you the opportunity to get as close to the local flavor as possible. All boring crossings are replaced by transfers, which will add comfort and richness to your trip. Nevertheless, don't expect an easy walk: the participants will have to walk up to 15 km every day with considerable drops in altitude, and to overcome several difficult passes. That's why we recommend this route for those who already have experience in trekking with overnight stay in tents. If you are a beginner and have not been to the mountains before, we suggest you choose the following variant.
Easy backpacking in Svaneti
We like Svaneti very much, and we want to make everybody know this region, regardless of physical shape, age and experience in hiking. That's why in addition to the classical route, we also have an easy trekking tour in Svaneti. Even children from 10 years old can take part in it! Despite its simplicity, the route includes visiting beautiful places and wonderful scenery every day. We will keep the traditional atmosphere of the hike: nights in tents and common evening gatherings and games.
During the whole trekking program, we will have views of Bezengi wall – the highest point of the Main Caucausian Range. We will also climb the Svan Ridge, which is over 3,000 meters high! We will walk across mountain rivers, swim in waterfalls and see many stone towers which are the trademark of Svaneti.

The logistics of the hike are well-thought-out: we'll start our trip in Zugdidi, very close to the mountains, and finish it in Batumi, where we can bask in the Black Sea beaches to the fullest.
In general, if you want to go on a not so complicated hiking trip, but at the same time to see the highest peaks of the Caucasus near you, make sure you choose the easy hike in Svaneti!
Categorical trekking in Georgia
This difficult route is developed by our guides for strong and confident tourists, who want to visit the most remote corners of Svaneti and Mingreli regions, deprived of any trace of civilization. For the whole week we will have no villages, no roads, no cell phones – only closeness to nature and the majesty of the mountains. We will overcome 2 passes about 3000 meters high with the category 1A (Tsatskibali and "the telephone booth"). As a result, at the end of the hike, members will be able to issue a third category of sports tourism and get a certificate of the passage of the mountain unit.

One of the highlights of the route – the mountain lakes Ohodzhe and Tobavarchhili, which you will definitely remember for a long time. The program of the category tour across Georgia is made in such a way that you will spend a half a day on one of the lakes and feel the magic of its beauty even more.
Choose this hike if you have experience in the mountains with long hikes and big daily drops in altitude. Otherwise, we advise you to pick one of the easier hikes.
Hiking in Megrelia
Hike to Megrelia is another challenging hiking tour where you have to climb two 1A grade passes and spend about a week in wilderness areas with no trace of civilization. The reward for these hardships will be the magnificent scenery that will delight us every day: majestic black rocks and snow-capped mountains, blooming alpine meadows and deep tropical forests, spectacular waterfalls and one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Georgia. We will finish our trip in the resort city of Batumi, where we can relax and lie on the beach after a long hike.

We recommend this hike to those who have been in the mountains with a backpack on their shoulders and spent the night in tents. If you are in good physical shape and confident in your abilities, you can go to Megrelia even without previous mountain experience.
Climbing in Georgia
Have you already been on a few mountain hikes and want to take the next step – further and higher? Georgia is the perfect place for that! We invite you to take part in mountain climbing in this wonderful country. In contrast to the usual hiking and trekking, climbing requires more thorough training and certain mountaineering skills. If you do not have these skills, do not worry – our guides will help you to acclimatize and train. Each peak has its own difficulty and requirements to the experience of potential climbers.
We suggest you try your strength in climbing Kazbek, as well as Laila and Tetnuldi. Carefully read the descriptions of the programs, look through the schedule and choose the climbing in Georgia to your liking!
When is the best time to go hiking in Georgia?
Georgia is good at any time of the year, but for hiking in the mountains, we recommend choosing summer and early fall. Now we will tell you in more detail about the features of each season.
Hiking in Georgia in summer – in June, July, or August
Undoubtedly, summer is the best time to hike in Georgia. Since most of the routes are at high altitudes, it is very important that the snow has melted enough and the air has warmed up. This is why we recommend going to Georgia in the summer and going to the mountains. After all, even if it is hot near the sea, in the mountains it will always be comfortable, and in the evenings it is even cool. In June, most likely, it will still be snowy at altitudes of 2500 m and above. But in July and August, the snow will melt. You can have more advantage of trekking at the end of summer - ripe fruit and berries.

Hiking in Georgia in the fall – in September, October and November
Early fall is also a great season to go to Georgia. Maybe even the best. In September, it is still warm, the weather is stable, the fruits with which Georgia is so rich are coming into season. The sea is as warm as possible. In October, it starts to get colder, but the weather is still stable. But in November the approach of winter is felt. It is cold in the mountains, we do not organize our hikes in this month, and we do not recommend you to go.
Hiking in Georgia in Winter – January, December and February
Georgia has some great ski resorts with great freeride opportunities. Skiing is what makes it worthwhile to go in the winter, rather than hiking in the high mountains.

Hiking in Georgia in the spring – May, March and April
Spring comes early in Georgia, but not everywhere. First it comes to the sea coast and only then it slowly makes its way to the mountains. In March and April, we do not recommend hiking – there is still a lot of snow, and it is cold. But it is possible to go to Georgia on May holidays. But we must realize that the evenings are still cold, and to have enough warm clothing.
Hiking in Georgia – the cost
Hiking in the mountains of Georgia is a great option to spend an unforgettable vacation and test yourself. The cost of the hike depends on the duration and type. For example, climbing will always cost more than the usual trekking. After all, they require better training, additional equipment, and involve more risk. Detailed information about the prices for each individual route can be found in its full description. Be sure to pay attention to what is included in the cost of the tour in Georgia and what is not, and how much extra money you should take. The national currency of Georgia is lari, but you'll be okay with dollars. Also, hryvnias can be changed into lari.
