Carpathian landscapes are so incredible that they will not leave anyone indifferent. That's why we go there with pleasure every year - already prepared for the vagaries of weather, for long hikes and climbs up with a backpack. And what can someone, who only begins to comprehend the beauty of nature, and would like very much to see such landscapes with his own, full of enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge, do?
Especially for restless explorers and little travelers we have developed a very easy, but incredibly rich in all sorts of interesting routes of hiking with children in the Carpathians. The parents themselves will be pleasantly surprised to see in the Carpathian forests bizarre rocks, rocks covered with silky moss, mountain streams and waterfalls hidden in the woods.
There are no long hikes with heavy backpacks in this children's hike. When we reach the overnighting place we will set up camp and spend the next day exploring the rocks and caves of the geological natural monument called Protate Kamynja. We will hear interesting stories from the guide about this amazing creation of nature, we will learn many useful things. We will learn how to knit tourist's knots, make a fire, pitch a tent, cook delicious and healthy food. We will play and have fun. This family hike in the Carpathians is sure to please both kids and their parents, and will be remembered for a long time!
We'll teach kids how to pitch a tent, build a fire, tie knots, and have fun games for kids and adults. Children and parents will be pleasantly surprised by the area where our hike will take place. Beech and spruce forests, bizarre rocks and huge stones - you just won't have time to be bored!

This hike is the best way to teach children to be active, to show the beauty of native nature. Parents will not be bored either - picturesque rocks and landscapes from the ridge, sunsets in the mountains, heart-to-heart talks and sitting around the campfire, sharing experiences. Teamleader meets parents with young tourists at the train station in Ivano-Frankivsk. We get acquainted, if necessary, get a rental equipment, and on the bus we go to the mountains. Car from the station takes us directly to the mountain pass Nimchich, at an altitude of 580m. It is from this pass begins the walking route of our children's hike to the monument of nature - "Protyatnye Kameny".
After crossing the pass we will ascend to the ridge with the altitude of 300m, from which we will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surrounding mountains. We will go into the forest and see the big rocks! There are a lot of rocks hidden here, so most of the next day we will devote to finding them and carefully studying them. Today we will walk a little further to the glade where we will pitch our tents.

We know that since the evening children and adults are very eager to explore the huge rocks hidden in the forest. So let's not waste time, and after a delicious and hearty breakfast, let's go for more adventures! Powerful rocks are pierced with holes and passages, which is the reason for the name - Protyate Kaminya. The highest and most picturesque rock is called Falcon's Eye. Its height is about forty meters! As a result of erosion, a stone arch was formed in this rock, which resembles a giant eye. At the foot of the rock there is a cave that we will visit.
Nearby are several other smaller, but no less impressive, rock outcroppings. We will definitely take a walk to them as well. Such adventures will take us more than half a day. The rest of the time we will devote to useful lessons and workshops from the guide, and perhaps the parents will tell us something interesting :) After such an evening, children will definitely know how to pitch a tent and make a fire in several ways themselves. And they will also learn a lot of useful facts about our Carpathians, local flora and fauna. In the evening, we'll have the traditional campfire party with a mug of fragrant tea and sweets.

We wake up, pack up the camp and go in the direction of Bukovina waterfalls on the Smugariv stream. There are seven of them: Kovber, Sych, Lower, Middle, Big and Upper Hooky, and also the Gates waterfall. We take our backpacks down the trail along the stream, and we will stop to look at each waterfall.
On a hot summer day at the waterfalls is such a pleasant coolness, the noise of the water, she sings the birds, you can hear the voices of children - they like this vacation! And parents would like to take a picture for memory. Today, we took lots of pictures :)
Meanwhile, our adventure-packed trip is coming to an end. The road along the brook leads to the village Roztoki, which is located on the bank of the mighty Cheremosh. Here the bus is waiting, which takes us to Ivano-Frankovsk. On the way we'll stop to admire the huge Rock of Sokal, on the left bank of the Cheremosh. In Ivano-Frankivsk we'll walk through the historical center of the city, where there's a lot of ancient architecture and different modern art objects. In the evening we take a train, filled with the energy of Carpathian mountains, and with unforgettable impressions of what we saw! And we already want to go hiking again :)

Depending on the weather conditions and general wishes of the group, the teamleader has the right to make changes to the route.
Carpathians are very rainy region, so we must be ready for anything - take a raincoat for sure! It's better to be safe than to get soaked!

The permissible age for participation in the hike in the Carpathians with children - from 5 years old. It is desirable the presence of both parents, as you need to carry things for themselves and for the child, as well as to have time to look after a restless child, because the Carpathians are so much interesting! Children under 15 years old have a 20% discount.
If your child is 3-4 years old, you have experience in hiking, and your child has experience sleeping outdoors - you can join the group, too.
As always, we recommend that you buy tickets in advance, although there are often vacant seats on trains a week before the start of the hike. You should buy your ticket so that you'll be at the train station in Ivano-Frankovsk by 10 a.m. on the day of the start of the hike. A slight delay is acceptable. Back you buy a ticket for the evening, best of all for 20-22 hours, then you'll have time to walk around Frankovsk and have a drink in one of its pubs. Buy tickets is worth it only after our confirmation of your participation in the hike. You can do this at the ticket offices at the railway station or online on the website "Ukrzaliznytsia".
The meeting place of the group is the waiting room of the Ivano-Frankovsk railway station. The time is determined by the last arriving participant, usually it's 10 am. About 5-7 days before the hike we will send you by e-mail the exact time of the meeting and the contacts of the team leader. Don't forget to check your mail!
The weather in the Carpathians is very changeable, so you should prepare for its surprises in advance. The first thing you should remember is that it rains a lot here, so you should bring a raincoat and a rain cover for your backpack. Second - in the evenings, especially at high-altitude parking lots, it may be cool. Take with you a hat, gloves and jacket.
Surely you are wondering what we will eat on a hike? Let's just say that you don't have to worry. Many participants say they eat better on the hike than they do at home. The basis of the menu is a simple meal of cereals and soups. You should not count on gourmet delicacies (although they can be).
If you do not eat any products, be sure to inform the manager so that the guide can slightly adjust the menu for you. We also recommend taking some yummies with you - nuts or sweets. Appetite on a hike is much better than at home.
Please note that the menu shown is indicative only. Guides usually have their signature dishes that they love to pamper participants with. And if you have dishes that you would like to receive on a hike, be sure to tell the manager about it, as the guide may have completely different preferences.

When you arrive in Ivano-Frankivsk, go to 10. The food here is extremely tasty, the portions are huge, and the prices are small. If the 10 is busy, you can eat at another pub, too. Sitting down together for a delicious meal and a glass of beer is a great ending to a great outing. With that in mind, it's best to buy your tickets back for the evening - about 20-22 hours.
One of the charms of a hike in the Carpathians is the abundance of berries and mushrooms. But be careful! Before you eat something of berries - be sure to check with the team leader whether it is edible. The most tasty and popular berry is certainly blueberries and raspberries, but you can also eat cowberries, blueberries and blackberries.
There are a lot of mushrooms in the Carpathians, and they can often enrich your diet. We recommend to take only white ones and cook them well. On the possibility of diluting the ration of mushrooms ask the instructor. If you have a weak stomach - you should not eat mushrooms.
The program has mandatory additional costs for transfers. Their amount you can check with the consultant, as it depends on the cost of fuel and is constantly changing.
There are also optional expenses. Participants buy dried porcini mushrooms, souvenirs, and like to have dinner in a restaurant (for example, in the legendary "Ten"). Minimum recommend taking from 300 hryvnias. And the maximum is up to you.
