About the consultant

Hello! My name is Oksana, and I’m a consultant at the KULUAR travel club.

I didn’t start going to the mountains as a child, but only as an adult–in 2018. But perhaps that is precisely why it has become such a conscious and genuine passion for me. Since then, hiking, travelling and nature have become an important part of my life.

I’ve been to Georgia, to Svaneti, and I have quite a bit of experience hiking in the Carpathians, mostly camping. I love that particular way of travelling, where there’s a genuine connection with nature, simplicity, silence, the kind of tiredness that brings joy, and the feeling that you’re truly living in the moment.

As well as hiking, I’ve also been on a few river trips. My husband and I try to get away whenever we can–to go for a walk, see new places, spend time in nature, and get away from the hustle and bustle. I really love Bakota, the Dniester, and the beautiful spots in the Khmelnytskyi region.

I work out and go for runs, and it really helps me on my hikes. What’s more, I have the best running partner – my beloved husky, Uzala. With her, every run is a bit more fun, a bit livelier, and certainly never boring.

I also love drawing – I really enjoy the process itself, when you can fully immerse yourself in creativity. I’m also interested in modern technology, particularly artificial intelligence, and anything that enables me to learn, grow and see familiar things in a broader light.

For me, travelling isn’t just about the route or taking beautiful photos. It’s about a state of mind, about recharging your batteries, about freedom, and about experiences that stay with you for a long time afterwards.

The idea for this hike was born last year when we were doing the “Stone Slopes of Gorgany” program, and part of the group, for some reason, really wanted something more… something more challenging, more remote, and with even more incredible views. And so, thanks to our team leader Vira Voloshyna, this year we got a unique opportunity to walk along the ridges of the Western Gorgany (we went from Myslivka to Osmoloda). By the time this route was coming to its logical end, we had only one question left — where we’d go next summer and how we could possibly top this route. It had everything… mountains of scree, kilometers of trails overgrown with dwarf mountain pine (zherep), and of course, fantastic views along almost the entire length of the route. Yes, this is definitely the most challenging six-day route KULUAR offers in the Carpathians, and it requires quite good physical fitness and proper gear (one of the group members, figuratively speaking, had the sole crack on their trekking shoes from a well-known brand). But on the other hand, this route gives you unforgettable emotions — there won’t be many people here… you just walk, think about something, make plans for the future, and enjoy the pristine nature… I was lucky with the group and the team leader, we were lucky with the weather (not a single drop of rain in six days… because wet scree could have brought quite an “experience”) and overall this hike left only pleasant emotions. Yes, I understand that this hike won’t be mass-market, but hikes like this give you real emotions, and it’s great that KULUAR listens to its clients, meets them halfway, and organizes trips like this. You’ve taken many people up into the mountains and most of them were satisfied, but sometimes you want more, and it’s great that you heard us and this challenging yet so amazing hike appeared on the schedule).
