The Carpathians are the best region for a winter hike! The Carpathian Mountains have many huts and mountain estates where you can heat the stove, cook delicious food, and spend the night in warmth and relative comfort. Often, after a hard day, you can take a steam bath in a real Hutsul bathhouse, and after the hike, stay for a few more days and go skiing. That is why we love the winter Carpathians so much and go there every year.

Experienced team leaders will conduct theoretical and practical classes, where you will gain the knowledge and skills necessary for further climbing in large mountains, as well as on difficult routes.

The conditions of the Carpathian winter are perfect for learning how to move on steep snowy slopes, walk in crampons, self-retention on the slope, movement on railings, organizing insurance, etc. You can also learn how to build snow shelters. Undoubtedly, this is a very useful program, and we recommend it to anyone who wants to truly immerse themselves in the world of mountains and climbing!

Hiking in the mountains in winter

In fact, "hiking in the mountains in winter" and "winter hiking" are two different concepts. We organize hikes all over the planet, and you can go hiking with us in winter in such regions, like Africa, Patagonia, Nepal. But it will not be a winter hike, because at this time it is relatively warm there. Winter hiking is when there are snowdrifts and sub-zero temperatures all around, and all the mountains and valleys around are hiding under a snow-white blanket until spring.

One of the most important questions that you need to decide for yourself is where to go on a winter hike? You need to understand that most of the fairly simple summer routes look completely different in winter, become more difficult, but at the same time more interesting 🙂 In winter, some of them can be very difficult, dangerous or impassable. If you spend 2–3 hours on a certain section of the path in summer, then in winter it can take you the whole day. Or maybe even more. Taking this factor into account, you should firstly start from your hiking experience. But the above applies to those who organize a hike on their own.

If a team of experienced teamleaders takes over, you don't have to worry about your health. For our future clients, we have already thought of everything and built routes with the maximum possible comfort. Wherever possible, we spend the night in huts, walk without heavy backpacks, and take a steam bath in the evenings.

Of course, you won't feel the real "tin", but this version of hiking is much more pleasant and, most importantly, safer! Most of our winter routes (with some exceptions) are quite accessible to everyone. All you need is a desire and good clothes, we will provide the rest. All of our team leaders have been to these places more than a dozen times, both in summer and winter, and therefore can easily find the safest way to the top and back. They will take care of each participant, help, tell, and teach.
