An expedition to the Himalayas with climbing two six-thousanders is a real challenge for the bravest and most experienced. This program is undoubtedly one of the rarest and most beautiful in Nepal. Participation in the track promises both unusual experience and impressions, as well as many difficulties that the whole team will have to overcome while climbing to the peaks of Mera Peak (6,476 m), Island Peak (6,183 m) and Amphulapcha Pass (5,840 m).
This expedition is not at all like the usual comfortable Nepalese trekking. About half of the nights will be spent in tents, many transitions will be through deserted and non-touristy terrain, where you will see the real mountainous Nepal as it is.
The route passes through one of the most picturesque places in the Himalayas - on the border between Sagarmatha National Park and Makalu Borun. The views from the peaks (Mera Peak and Island Peak) and the Amphulapcha Pass are breathtaking. There are very few relatively accessible places in the world that can give you such views.
Be prepared for what will be difficult. You have enough days and a well-thought-out schedule for acclimatization, but this does not guarantee the absence of headaches and hellish fatigue.
Important! We do not take everyone to the group. Experience in hiking at the level of the 2nd category of difficulty or climbing to altitudes of about 5000, good physical shape is required. We recommend to go to Kazbek first.
The group is led by a high-altitude guide who speaks Ukrainian and has experience on this track and an experienced certified Nepalese guide.

We rarely run this program, but you can join a separate group to climb Mera or Island Peak. And for those who are looking for a more challenging program, we suggest considering the beautiful Ama Dablam peak.

At the exit from the airport, you will be met by the Club's teamleader, after which we will take a taxi to Thamel, the tourist district of Kathmandu. After checking into the hotel, you will have free time to buy the missing equipment, explore the nearest attractions or just wander the streets, exploring such an unusual Nepalese life. In the evening, we will have a joint dinner and get acquainted with the group. The teamleader will tell you about the upcoming challenges and check your equipment.
Very early rise and transfer to Kathmandu Domestic Airport. To be honest, it looks more like a bazaar than an airport. There is no clear schedule here - everything is approximate, and departures are very weather-dependent. Hopefully, we will be lucky and take off on time. Once we arrive in Lukla, we will have a lot of organizational work to do: preparing equipment for a long expedition, meeting porters, getting permits to climb Mera Peak and Island Peak.
Today we have half a day free - this day can be used as a backup if there are any delays with the flight to Lukla. In this case, today's program will be combined with the next day.
It's a short day, as we are just starting to get used to the altitude. 2–3 hours of climbing, and we are in the small village of Chuchenga. This is not a tourist place and there are only two lodges here. If they are occupied, it's not a problem, we will spend the night in tents. There is a place for camping in the village. After setting up camp or checking into the lodge, we'll do a short acclimatization walk.
Today we walk without heavy backpacks. We are climbing to the Chetra La Pass, at an altitude of 4,500 meters. Congratulations, we have passed the 4,000-meter mark. Of course, for the Himalayas, this is a very low altitude, but even here we can already get altitude sickness. That is why we are devoting today to acclimatization. We will spend some time at the altitude and then descend back to Chuchenga.
Early breakfast, today we have a long climb to the Chetra la pass, also called Zatrva la. This is the first pass in our program. The ascent is not technically difficult and takes 6-7 hours. The descent from the pass to the Chetri lodge will take about 2-3 hours. If there is no room in the lodges, we set up a tent camp. Infrastructure on non-tourist trails is poorly developed, and this is good - nature will remain in its original form longer.
Today we descend to the Lakkhu Khola river valley. It's always a shame to lose altitude, remembering what it took to gain it, but in the mountains it doesn't happen any other way. Besides, it's good for acclimatization. You will sleep much better at 3,600 than at 4,200. After two hours of hiking, you will have the opportunity to eat and drink tea in a village called Tector.
The trail to Gothe runs through a picturesque forest. Remember the color of the green - we will soon say goodbye to it for a long time. Unlike the previous settlements, Gothe is larger and more comfortable. You will have the opportunity to order hot water and have a proper bath.
There is a checkpoint here where you need to show your climbing permits and pay the entrance fee to Makalu Barun Park.
Did you miss the climbing? Now, up to the top of Mera Peak, we spend the night higher and higher. Today we are walking along a path along the river, gradually gaining height. After about 4-6 hours we reach Tannak, a small village located in a picturesque valley at the confluence of two rivers. It is here that the spirit of Tibet begins to be felt - the women of the village are dressed in typical Tibetan clothes and their facial features are different from Nepalese. We spend the night in lodges, in large rooms for 5–6 people, or in a tent camp.
The journey to Kare will take about 3-4 hours. This is not much, so you can set aside time for short radial exits during the transition. There can be 2 of them. The first one is to the mountain lake Sabai Tso (4,465 m), the second one is to the moraine wall, which offers a beautiful panorama of the Mera glacier. The village of Kare offers an amazing view of Mera Peak, the highest peak of our expedition in Nepal. We admire the mountain in the rays of the evening sun and imagine how we will stand on the very top.
Another acclimatization day. Today we take a new mark - 5,000 meters. It takes about 4-6 hours to reach the ridge. We spend half an hour on the ridge, admiring the scenery and taking photos while our bodies get used to the new altitude. Then we descend, it's important to get to the parking lot before dusk.
We are getting closer to the top! Today's goal is the Mera Peak base camp. We will spend the night in a tent camp, and for better acclimatization we will definitely go to a high-altitude camp at 5,800 meters.
We have breakfast, slowly pack up our tents, and go back to the high-altitude camp. There is no point in hurrying. Tonight it is important to go to bed as early as possible - after all, we are going to reach the summit just after midnight. It is highly desirable to sleep at least a few hours.
Today is an extremely important and very difficult day. We need to do our best. We'll get up at about 00:00, have a light breakfast, hot tea and then go to the top of Mera Peak. Be prepared for strong winds and cold.
On the difficult sections of the ascent to Mera Peak Central (6,461 m) and on the ridge to Mera Peak West (6,467 m), railings will be hung for the safety of the group.
Step by step - and we are at the top of the Mera! It seems that the whole world is under our feet. And it might be so if we were not in the Himalayas. And so we are surrounded by panoramas of majestic seven- to eight-thousanders. We meet the sunrise at the top, then go down to the camp and have lunch. We don't have much energy, but we need to get ready and walk another 2-3 hours to the Kongme Dingma parking lot (4,990 meters). We spend the night in a tent camp.
We slept well, recovered a bit, and headed to the Seti Pokhari glacial lake. Today's trail is very beautiful. In fact, all the way we will be accompanied by powerful waterfalls, a picturesque canyon of the Honku Khola River, and in some places we will see the mountain peaks of the Makalu Burun massif.
The parking lot is as ascetic as the previous one - a small shed with a stove, a place for burners, a table and a rookery for porters. Next to the shed is a tent site, where we set up our camp.
Today we are in no hurry. We'll have time to admire the scenery, then pack up camp, eat and go up to the high altitude camp of the Amphulapcha Pass. It is located on the steep shore of Ponch Pokhari Lake, at an altitude of 5,484 meters.
It's a hard but interesting day. We will walk for almost two hours to the beginning of the glacier, where we will need to apply our skills in using climbing equipment.
With crampons, we will have to walk two railing sections. After that, the slope will become more sloping and we will smoothly climb to the pass.
During the ascent, we will be accompanied by breathtaking views of the peaks of Makalu, Lhotse and Island Peak. And the landscape from the pass itself is difficult to describe in words. And there is no need to. It's worth a visit.
The descent from Amphulapcha is not easy - we will abseil two sections 20-30 meters long. After that, we will have to hike to Chukung, which will take almost 4 hours. In the evening, you can relax - tonight we spend the night in guesthouses.
We're pretty tired and need to recuperate before climbing Island Peak, so we're resting in Chukung for the day. We're going to be lazy and walk around the neighborhood for a bit. This is the second reserve day and, if necessary, it can be used according to the next day's program.
We have breakfast and head to the high-altitude camp Island Peak. The transition will take about 5-6 hours. After setting up camp, we have dinner and call it a night. We will reach the summit right after midnight.
Perhaps this day can be called the hardest on the track. We get up, have some hot tea, a light snack, and head towards the summit with flashlights. The approach takes about 4 hours, and the actual ascent takes two more. We will be on the mountain around dawn. The sunrise at this height is a truly unforgettable sight. After a photo session, we headed down to the high-altitude camp. Here we will have lunch and a short rest, after which we will have to break up the camp and return to Chukung. If everything goes well, we will be resting in the lodges by 16:00. We share our impressions of the climb over a glass of beer, and then it's just downhill, so we can relax a bit.
We continue to descend to civilization. With every hundred meters we descend, we feel better and our strength returns. The descent will take 4-5 hours. We spend the night in lodges in Pangboche.
The trail runs through a picturesque forest. We will soon reach Tiangboche, where there are several lodges and a very beautiful monastery. This is one of the highest monasteries in the world. We make a stop for a snack. There will be time not only to eat, but also to explore the surroundings. It's another three hours of descent to Namche Bazaar. Namche is a large district center with many shops, lodges, good internet and even a post office. You can send a postcard to your loved ones.
We return to the air gate of Everest - Lukla. In the evening, we have a festive dinner, we can finally relax and congratulate each other on the completion of the walking part of our great Nepalese expedition.
It would seem that the track is over, but today is also very important. After all, flights from Lukla can be delayed for several days due to bad weather. We believe we will be lucky and land safely in Kathmandu. We check into a hotel, have a rest, and walk around the city.
On this day, we will see the main sights of Kathmandu - Swayambodnath, Pathan, Pashupatinath, Bodnath Stupa. It is better to take tickets for night flights or the next day.

A visa to Nepal is issued right at the border, the cost of a visa for a 30-day stay is $50. Detailed instructions on how to apply are here. To obtain a visa, you only need a valid passport with a validity period of more than 6 months from the date of your return flight.

It is better to buy tickets in advance, as soon as we confirm your participation in the program. The most convenient way to fly from the CIS is with AirArabia and FlyDubai, and you should buy tickets on their websites. Please note that baggage transportation is not included in the price and you will need to book an additional 20 kg of baggage when purchasing tickets. We are glad to inform you that a visa to Nepal is issued right at the border in five minutes (if there are no queues)! You need to bring 2 3x4 color photos, a passport and a completed visa application form. It is filled out there, at the airport.

During the trekking part of the expedition, we sleep in lodges. The comfort is minimal, often there is nothing else in the rooms except beds. We sleep in sleeping bags, and if you wish, you can ask the hosts for an extra blanket. There is electricity in almost all lodges, but outlets in the rooms are rare, although they do exist. In most cases, there is a common outlet, which is charged for 100 rupees ($1) per hour, or charging your device - as you can negotiate. Showers and toilets are always shared, and sometimes in rooms. During the climbing, we live exclusively in tent camps.
The menu in all lodges is varied - you may or may not have time to try everything during the track :) An interesting feature is that the same dishes are prepared differently in different lodges, so they taste completely different! Food prices increase in proportion to the altitude. On average, it will cost you $15-20 per day to eat normally. During the climb, we eat on our own - the food is prepared by a Nepalese guide.
Everyone probably knows that Nepal is known for its extremely cheap hiking equipment. Well, it's true! You can buy a fleece jacket for $5-8, a down jacket for $30, and trekking poles for $7. But you should understand that, despite the tag, this is not branded equipment, but made somewhere in local basements. There are also shops with original items, but the prices there are the same as here. In general, you don't have to carry a bunch of equipment from home, most of which can be purchased locally. There are an unrealistic number of tourist shops.
The climate is subtropical monsoon, which means that there is a lot of rain in summer and snow in winter. The best months for trekking are April-May and October-November. The temperature depends on the altitude. During the day in the lowlands it will be around +25, and at night +15. At an altitude of about 3000 meters, it will drop to 0 at night, and at 5000 meters it will drop to -15 Celsius.
The country's currency is Nepali rupees. The exchange rate is about 100 rupees to 1 dollar. It is noteworthy that Nepalese people are very careless with paper money - it is quite normal to pierce a pack of rupees with a stapler. You can almost always pay with dollars. Souvenirs should be bought in the shops of Thamel (the tourist district of Kathmandu), not while visiting the sights. Always bargain with Nepalese people, sometimes the price can be reduced several times.
