Hiking to Hoverla and hiking to Prut waterfall – is two active days in the Carpathians full of adventures. The program is perfect for beginners. You don't need to carry heavy backpacks with you - they are left in the tent camp under the watchful eye of the second team leader. We walk to Hoverla and Prut waterfall with light backpacks, taking only the most necessary things with us.
During these two days, in addition to a lot of positive impressions, you will also get a useful experience of spending the night in a tent in the mountains. And the team leaders of Kuluar will share their knowledge: how to make a fire, how to set up a camp, how to cook food in camping conditions, tell and show a lot of useful tourist life hacks.
A simple hike will help you to reboot and have a good rest, communicate with new friends. A kind of very effective "mountain therapy" is extremely appropriate in these times. You will return home full of positive emotions and charged with the energy of the mountains!
Each group is accompanied by an experienced team leader of Kuluar, as well as an assistant cook who will be on duty in the camp and cook food while the participants are walking. This is the first time we've organized a hike in the Carpathians in this format, and we hope you'll enjoy it.

The team leader will meet you at the Ivano-Frankivsk train station, and you will go with him to the starting point closer to the mountains in the previously ordered comfortable transport.
We recruit no more than 12 participants for a team leader, and if there are many applicants, we divide them into several independent groups. This is done for the comfort of the participants.

Hoverla is the highest two-thousand meter peak in Ukraine, but in summer it is not difficult to climb. Everyone can climb the iconic peak for every Ukrainian in the warm season. And a nice bonus is hiking along the picturesque path to the Prut Waterfall. Please note that depending on the weather forecast, an experienced team leader will determine the order of these locations in our active weekend.
We meet the group at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station and have a pleasant acquaintance with the team leader. We get into a minibus that will take us to the start of the route - to the Zaroslyak sports center, located in the heart of the Chornohora mountain range, at the foot of Hoverla. Furthermore, we will walk a little deeper into the spruce forest and set up our tents in a convenient place. We will repack our things, take the most necessary things with us (the team leader will tell us what exactly), and with light backpacks we will go to the Prut waterfall. The trail will go through a protected spruce forest, and then lead to high mountain meadows. They offer mesmerizing views of the harsh and steep northern slopes of the Montenegrin ridge, where glaciers used to lie, as evidenced by the deep glacial cirques and punishment.
Walking through the forest, you can drink pure mountain water from the streams that cross the trail. We are gaining height, a small steep climb, and we leave the forest zone, where a waterfall is visible in front of us. After a rest at the waterfall, we follow the trail back to the camp, where a delicious dinner is waiting for us! Around the campfire we share our impressions of the day and sing songs :) But we don't stay up too late - we need to have a good rest before tomorrow's climb to the highest point of Ukraine.
During the day, we will walk 6 km, gain 300 meters in height, and descend to the same height.

We are getting ready to see the top of Hoverla and enjoy the scenery - we hope that we will be lucky with the weather. We take water, a snack, and the things we need for the climb - the backpack won't be heavy. In a good mood, we set off to the highest point of Ukraine.
After two or three hours of steep climbing (which is within the power of almost everyone), we are at the top under the flags. In good weather, from here you can see not only the highest mountain range in Ukraine, the Chornohora range, but also the rocky Marmaros and even the Romanian peaks. These moments of happiness are a great reward after climbing the mountain. We take pictures as a souvenir, and you can call your family and friends. And then there is a descent ahead, from which you can take your time to look at the surrounding mountain ranges. But do not forget to look at your feet :) Trekking poles and comfortable hiking shoes will be very useful here.
We return to our forest camp, pack up our tents, and go down to the minibus we booked in advance. We are going to Frankivsk to celebrate our small victory :) If you have time, you can stop at the souvenir market in Yaremche and see the Probiy waterfall.
In the evening, we take the train, feeling so tired and full of incredible memories. It was definitely an extremely busy weekend! And as a memento, we will have photos to share with our new friends :)
Having rebooted, we start the working week with new inspiration. And we are already planning the next trip :) See you in the mountains!
Depending on the weather conditions and general wishes of the group, the team leader has the right to make changes to the route. The day of climbing Hoverla is chosen by the team leader, depending on the weather forecast.
In general, the Carpathians are a rather rainy region, so you need to be prepared for anything - take a raincoat! It's better to be safe than sorry!

The difficulty of this hike is low.
We will face a rather sharp increase in altitude and a steep descent when climbing Mt. Hoverla, but we are going without heavy backpacks.

As always, we recommend buying tickets in advance, although there are often still seats available on trains a week before the start of the hike. You need to buy a ticket so that you can be at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station by 10 am on the day of the hike start. A slight delay is acceptable. For the return trip, buy a ticket for the evening, preferably for 20-22 hours, so you will have time to walk around Frankivsk. You should buy tickets only after we confirm your participation in the hike, you can do it at the ticket office at the railway station or online on the Ukrzaliznytsia website.
The meeting place for the group is the waiting room of the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station. The time is set according to the last participant to arrive, usually 10 am. Approximately 5-7 days before the trekking we will send you the exact time of the meeting and the team leader's contacts by mail. Don't forget to check your mail!
The weather in the Carpathians is very changeable, so you need to prepare for its surprises in advance. The first thing to remember is that rain is not uncommon here, so be sure to bring a raincoat and a rain cover for your backpack. Second, it can be cool in the evenings, especially at high-altitude parking lots. If you go hiking in the Carpathians in spring or fall, take a hat, gloves, and a jacket.
You're probably wondering what we're going to eat on the trip. We can tell you right away that you don't need to worry. Many participants say that they eat better on a hike than at home. The menu is based on simple food from cereals and soups. Do not count on gourmet delicacies (although they may be available).
If you don't eat any foods, be sure to let the manager know so that the team leader can adjust the menu a little for you. Also, we recommend taking some pocket treats with you - nuts or sweets. Your appetite is much better on a hike than at home.
Team leaders usually have their own signature dishes that they like to pamper the participants with.

In Ivano-Frankivsk, go to 10. The food here is extremely tasty, the portions are huge, and the prices are low. If 10 is busy, you can eat in another pub. Sitting together for a delicious meal and a glass of beer is a great end to a great hike. Keeping this in mind, it is better to buy return tickets for the evening - for 20-22 hours.
One of the charms of a hike in the Carpathians is the abundance of berries and mushrooms. But you need to be careful! Before you eat any of the berries, you should always ask the team leader if they are edible. The most delicious and popular berries are undoubtedly blueberries and raspberries, but you can also eat lingonberries, blueberries and blackberries.
There are a lot of mushrooms in the Carpathians and they can often diversify your diet. We recommend taking only white ones and cooking them well. Ask your instructor about the possibility of diluting your diet with mushrooms. If you have a weak stomach, you should not eat mushrooms.
The program provides for mandatory additional costs for transfers. You can check their amount with the consultant, as it depends on the cost of fuel and is constantly changing.
There are also optional expenses. Participants buy dried mushrooms, souvenirs, and sometimes have dinner at a restaurant (for example, the legendary Ten). We recommend bringing at least 300 UAH with you. The maximum is up to you.

It was an unforgettable trip 😌🥰 For our family, it was our first time sleeping in tents and our first time climbing mountains. We were very nervous, as we all have health issues. But... from the moment we met our guide Lesya, all our worries disappeared) Everything was coordinated and organised 100%!!!
We were a little late arriving, but upon arrival we were immediately fed (all the food was fresh and very tasty), our tent was pitched, and we immediately set off for the waterfall. Lesya gave a very interesting and detailed description of the area and, most importantly, managed to interest my 10-year-old daughter so much that she forgot about her tiredness and walked ahead of the group. In the evening, we had delicious borscht prepared by Dmytro and interesting conversations with marshmallows by the campfire.
Night, morning... that's a completely different story and incredible emotions)) They prepared us so well for the climb that it felt like we had done it many times before))) As a result, I (with my bad knees and a number of other health problems) and my daughter were the first to climb to the top)))
