Kuluarovci, we offer a new, interesting and not the most standard winter route - an ascent to Petros from the side of Kvasov. In this village there are springs of delicious and, they say, the most useful mineral water. We will fill a full bottle and go, driven by the call of adventure to Petros.
We will spend the night in the lodge, in rooms with the most basic conditions, but among the snow-covered mountains! After frosty walks there will be a chance to get warm near the stove and dry your shoes.

The winter Carpathians are like a fairy tale: the tops of the mountains are covered with snow caps, and a little lower there are forests of evergreen firs and pines. Even lower, swift mountain rivers flow, only partially covered by ice. And somewhere quite far away one can see Carpathian villages spread out in river valleys. This is a typical landscape of the winter Carpathian Mountains. Definitely worth a little cold to see it!
Do not overestimate the difficulty of winter climbing, but do not underestimate it either. Physically and technically the ascent is not difficult and accessible to anyone. Much of the success of the event depends on the weather, we hope it will smile on us. In most cases it smiles :)
From Ivano-Frankivsk we move to Transcarpathia, to the village of Kvasy, which is famous for its "Burkutsk" mineral springs. We will definitely visit one of them. Slightly carbonated water flows directly from the ground and is famous for its unique healing properties. We'll have a snack at the spring, fill the bottles with mineral water and go to Menchul valley.
We are waiting for a long climb to 700 meters, during which we will see how the amount of snow increases with the height. We had just a little snow, but now it is up to our knees. We would probably have to hike, then the one ahead would be shifted.
In the evening we enjoy the sunset, heat the stove, cook dinner and get acquainted with the group.
We wake up early, it is important to use every minute of this unique day in the Carpathian tale. So we get out of our sleeping bags, have a hearty breakfast, fill thermoses full of hot tea and go to visit Petros.
To the summit we need to walk 7 kilometers and gain 800 meters. The first part is a workout - we take the road along Sheshul Mountain without any elevation gain. But further on we have to climb steeper and get to the open ridge, blown around by all the winds, and go to the summit. We should be prepared for frosty and windy weather.
And now, the desired numbers on the altimeter - 2020 meters! So we're on top of one of the highest peaks of Ukraine! Enjoy the scenery, take pictures, drink hot tea. How much time we will spend on the mountain will very much depend on the weather.
We are going back by the same route, but it is much faster to go down, and the descent usually takes not more than three hours.
Over dinner we share our impressions from the winter Petros ascent, exchange photos and make plans for the future.
If the weather and return tickets allow, wishing today can climb another peak - Sheshul (1726 m), it is not so far. After descending the mountain we pack our backpacks, go to the village Kvasy, again get full bottles of mineral water and go to Ivano-Frankivsk.
Of course, in Frankovsk we go to the "Ten", where we spend a farewell dinner.

Kuluar - your life-changing mountain experience!
Depending on the weather conditions, condition and general wishes of the group, the teamleader has the right to make changes to the route. Compliance with the teamleader's instructions is mandatory and not subject to discussion.
The houses are the most basic - two twin rooms, each room can hold 7 people. Beds are double, there are mattresses, but you need your own sleeping bags. There is a stove in each room.
The ticket "there" should be bought so as to be at the railway station of Ivano-Frankovsk by 10 a.m. on the day of the start of the hike. A slight delay is acceptable. Back you buy a ticket for the evening, best of all for 20-22 hours, then you will have time to walk around Frankovsk and have a drink in one of its pubs. Tickets go on sale 30-45 days before departure. Take care to book tickets in advance, as the number of tickets and trains is limited, and getting the bus is not comfortable. The question is especially relevant on New Year's Eve. If you change your plans you can always cancel your ticket online or offline. But you will not lose the opportunity to relax in the mountains.
If you go to the company of 10 or more people - we can submit a group application, which gives a better chance to get a good seat on the train.
Also, there are trains that go to Jasinja station. You can come to that town and we will pick you up on the way.
You should buy tickets only after our confirmation of your participation in the hike, you can do it at the ticket offices at the railway station or online on the website of Ukrzaliznytsia.
Surely you are wondering what we will eat on a hike? Let's just say that you don't have to worry. Many participants say they eat better on the hike than they do at home. The basis of the menu is a simple meal of cereals and soups. You should not count on gourmet delicacies (although they can be).
If you do not eat any products, be sure to inform the manager so that the guide can slightly adjust the menu for you. We also recommend taking some yummies with you - nuts or sweets. Appetite on a hike is much better than at home.
Please note that the menu shown is indicative only. Guides usually have their signature dishes that they love to pamper participants with. And if you have dishes that you would like to receive on a hike, be sure to tell the manager about it, as the guide may have completely different preferences.

The meeting place of the group is the waiting room of the Ivano-Frankovsk railway station. The time is determined by the last arriving participant, usually it's 10 am. About 5-7 days before the hike we will send you by e-mail the exact time of the meeting and the contacts of the team leader. Don't forget to check your email! If it's more convenient for you, you can go straight to Kvasy, but tell us about it!
The weather in the mountains is not predictable. It often happens when the weather forecasters predict snowfalls, but the weather outside is sunny and calm. Or vice versa. Good weather conditions are one of the most important factors of successful climbing. In case of fog or snowfall we won't see the beauty of the Carpathians, but we will reach the peak. But if the wind blows, you may have to turn around. Remember! The mountains are and will be, more important is the health and safety of the group.
The program has mandatory additional costs for transfers. Their amount you can check with the manager, as it depends on the cost of fuel and is constantly changing.
There are also optional expenses. Participants buy dried porcini mushrooms, souvenirs, and like to have dinner in a restaurant (for example, in the legendary "Ten"). Minimum recommend to take from 300 hryvnias. And the maximum is up to you.
