A program for beginner freeriders who want to safely and enjoyably start their journey in off-piste riding, as well as enjoy a full day of freeride on the snowy virgin slopes of the Svydovets ridge.
👉 This is a two-day freeride program. We also have a four-day riding program. In addition, you can book a snowcat with a cabin at Dragobrat for one day.
The program runs weekly, from Sunday to Monday.
Schedule: 9:30 - briefing, 10:00-16:00 - freeride.
Various routes in the alpine zone, high mountains, and through forest powder among the spruces.
Panoramic mountain views during snowcat ascents, heated cabin.
Risk management by the guide, avalanche risk assessment, safe route selection, up to 8 participants per instructor.
No matter what you ride, we'll be happy to welcome you to our group.
If needed, we'll advise you on preparation, gear, and tickets.
We don't cancel or reschedule groups. If the manager gives you the go-ahead to buy a ticket, you can do so with confidence. The program will not be cancelled due to our fault.
Our manager has extensive experience and will advise you with expert knowledge.
Freeride led by experienced Kuluar instructors.
A chance to save significantly on gear by going on a climb with Kuluar.
Guides determine the optimal route and location right on the day of departure – analyzing weather conditions, snowpack condition, and the safety of descents.
On the first day we will split into two groups - skiers and snowboarders. We will ride with instructor-guides on the prepared slopes of the Dragobrat ski resort, correct mistakes, and learn proper skiing and snowboarding technique. Each participant will receive tips that will help them confidently and gracefully handle different slopes and snow conditions. After all, freeride isn't just about "Japanese powder" — it's also about sastrugi, hardpack, and wind-packed hard snow. Proper technique is the key to safe riding!
In the evening we'll review mistakes (taking photos and videos of the runs) and attend a lecture on freeride technique.
After a day of training, it's time to test your skills on real freeride terrain! Riders are transported up in a warm, enclosed snowcat cabin with autonomous heating.
On this day we will ride wide, calm lines and fields of untouched powder so that every participant can enjoy another best powder day!
In the evening, over a cup of aromatic masala tea, we'll discuss avalanche safety in freeriding and enjoy a beautiful photo report from today's ride.
Depending on weather conditions, the group's condition, and overall preferences, the instructor has the right to make changes to the route. Following the instructor's instructions is mandatory and not up for discussion.
To participate in the freeride tour, you must not have any illnesses incompatible with active tourism: list here.
To participate in the program, you need good insurance. Please don't neglect this point. For some participants, it has saved thousands of dollars. You can find our recommendations for getting insurance here: "Insurance for Kuluar trip participants"
Accommodation for participants is not included in the program price.
Guides are based at the private guesthouse “Zhuravel” and, depending on availability and participants' preferences, Kuluar members can stay here or at nearby hotels: Pik, Prolisok, Adrenalin, Skelya, etc.
Freeride is not just about powder, untouched slopes, or “butter” snow. You'll often encounter crust, concrete-like snow, moguls, wind-packed drifts, and other conditions, sometimes all within a single descent. It's also not always sunny — there can be fog and "flat light," during which we can safely ride good powder in the forest zone. We promise to find you descents with the best snow conditions, but in freeride you need to be ready for anything.
If a severe storm starts, we stop/cancel the program and return to base. Payment is made according to the amount of time the program has run.
At Dragobrat there are several trusted rental shops for snowboards and wide freeride skis.
You can also use the services of partner rental centers in Kyiv. For participants of the freeride school and freeride-safari programs on snowcats, the Svoboda rental shop offers a 10% discount.
Freeride set rental prices at Svoboda:
Freeride snowboard set (freeride snowboard, bindings, boots): 1 day – 500 UAH, 3-5 days – 350 UAH/day.
Protective gear and clothing are also available for rent here.
We limit the number of participants in a group. To secure your spot, you need to make a prepayment of 2000 hryvnias. The remaining amount is paid to the team leader upon meeting. Prepayment refund conditions and payment methods =>>
