Aladaglar is a very compact and picturesque mountain range in the southeast of the Anatolian Peninsula and the highest part of the Taurus mountain system. In a very small area, there are four peaks above 3700 m and many above 3500 m, with steep rocky walls strongly resembling the Dolomites. During our trip, we will make several interesting climbs at once, including the region's highest peak, Demirkazik (3756 m), as well as several lower but no less interesting and challenging summits!
Local Turkish climbers are actively developing this area, and now there are many climbing and mountaineering routes here! The main idea of the local climbing community is to try to preserve the local nature as untouched as possible. So if you want to make interesting and challenging climbs in a small group in a picturesque place without crowds of people, then the Climbing in Aladaglar program is for you!
Despite the fact that the places are quite wild and sparsely populated, there are very comfortable living conditions in the valley below, the approaches in the area are short, and the weather in mid-August is usually clear.
This program is perfect for anyone who already has experience climbing various rocky peaks (for example, the Matterhorn) and/or has trained in our rock schools and wants to gain new climbing experience, "trek" through beautiful places, and visit a new exotic region!
In the format of a practical school.
The group's safety is our top priority.
Right next to the routes and with a stunning view :)
Gear selection, flight booking, etc.
We don't cancel or reschedule groups. If the consultant gave you the green light to buy your ticket, you can do so with confidence. The program will not be cancelled through our fault.
Our consultant has taken part in many climbs and will advise you with expert knowledge.
Travel with the best Kuluar team leaders, who will share hiking life hacks and fascinating stories.
Over the years of the club's work, we have developed an algorithm that allows us to organize programs as effectively as possible. You can see this for yourself by applying to join.
Over 12,000 participants have already traveled with Kuluar, and 97.8% of them were satisfied. We're confident you will be too!
A chance to save significantly on gear when climbing with Kuluar.
We meet at Kayseri Airport and drive to the camp at the foot of the massif. It's about 150 km along a good road. Upon arrival, we settle in, prepare our gear, and get to know each other.
Today we will do a training climb on one of the multi-pitch routes near the camp. We'll review movement techniques and get warmed up. In the evening we return to the camp.
Today we approach the Arpalık plateau. This is the starting point for several north-facing routes. Water can be found year-round at the Tekepınarı camps, making it the best place for a base camp. If you wish, you can climb even closer to the route's start, but then you'll need to carry water with you. We rest before an early start.
We wake up at night and set off for the summit attempt. The main route is the NW ridge. This is the most logical and natural line from this side. The rocks are mostly of medium difficulty, but there are a few steep sections of grade IV-V. By midday we reach the summit ridge and continue along easy rocks to the top. From here you can see the entire Aladaglar massif with its rocky peaks! A short rest, and then down. We descend via the classic SE route. These are relatively easy rocks, so by the end of the day we should be at the camps below the route.
Today we descend and return to the camp. We spend the rest of the day resting after the climb.
Today we'll go on an incredibly scenic trek to the Edigöl plateau (Plateau of Seven Lakes), which serves as a starting point for several interesting peaks. The plateau can be reached via the simple but high Selikbayderesi pass (3450 m).
The second option for the base camp is the Mur gorge, one of the few forested places in Aladaglar. The spruce forest and rocky walls closely resemble the Dolomites.
We will decide together on the location and climbing objective, based on the group's pace on the trek and the participants' preferences.
Today we set off for another climb. Depending on the group's condition and preferences, the team leaders will choose the most suitable route. In this part of the region there are 4–5 options for large 3000-meter peaks with routes of medium to above-medium difficulty, such as Direktaş (3510 m), Engin Tepe (3723 m) on the Edigöl plateau, or Kaldı (3688 m), Güzeller (3455 m), and others in the Mur gorge. After the climb we descend to the camp. We either stay overnight there, or, if time allows, head down to the base camp.
Our climbing program is coming to an end. Today we pack up all the gear and head to Kayseri Airport, from where we fly home.
IMPORTANT! The decision on whether it is possible or not to continue the climb is made solely by the team leader, is mandatory, and is not subject to discussion. We are interested in having as many of our participants as possible reach the summit, but safety always comes first!
To reserve a spot in the group, you need to make a deposit of 250 euros. In case of cancellation of the trip, the money is non-refundable, but it can be transferred to another participant or remain on your "account" for future trips, after deducting booking expenses, if any. The remaining part of the trip can be paid by transfer or given to the instructor on the first day of the program.
Depending on weather conditions, the group's condition, and general preferences, the team leader has the right to make changes to the route. The instructor's decisions are mandatory and not subject to discussion.
To participate in the trip, you must not have any of the illnesses listed in this list.
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return date – please check this before buying flights.
You need to buy tickets in advance, as soon as we confirm your participation in the trek.

You need good insurance to take part in the program. Please do not neglect this point. For some participants, it has saved thousands of dollars. You will find our recommendations on getting insurance here: "Insurance for Kuluar trek participants"
Summer in Aladaglar is usually hot and dry, so approaches under the scorching sun are common. At the same time, the climate is continental, and nighttime frosts at an altitude of 3000 are not uncommon. In addition, the entire climb takes place on the northern exposure, so the full set of gear must be suitable for both heat and windy, cold weather.
We stay at a campsite. Standard accommodation is in tents. A kitchen and shower are available. There is an option, for a small extra fee, to stay in comfortable cabins with a private shower and kitchen.
The price of the Aladaglar Ascent. Demirkazik program depends on the number of participants in the group. The maximum number of participants is 6, with 1 team leader per no more than 3 participants:
*Please note: it is not the consultant's task to arrange a separate flight for each participant. The consultant provides general recommendations based on their experience and shares other participants' flight details so you can fly together. Choosing and purchasing a flight ticket convenient for yourself is the responsibility of each participant.
