The Matterhorn is one of the most beautiful and often pictured mountains. Climbing this peak is a unique adventure and a priceless experience. We will climb the most beautiful peaks of the Alps on not the most standard routes in the company of experienced guides, admire the green Italian side of the Matterhorn, make an acclimatization climb to one of the 4-thousanders of the area and much more.
This program is designed for participants who already have experience of ascents in big mountains (for example, Kazbek, Elbrus, Mont Blanc, etc.), and who know the techniques of using equipment for descending and ascending. Routes require participants to be confident in cramponing, climbing on rocks, and using various climbing equipment.

The group meets teamleader in Cervinia. First of all, the guide checks the equipment of each participant. It is advisable to prepare everything in advance, there are not too many stores in Cervinia! The process of equipment preparation at home is always carefully supervised by our coordinators.
Today, not far from Cervinia, we will have a rock climbing session and we will all climb an easy rock route together so that all participants get to know each other and get used to the constant manipulation of equipment and ropes.
Today we will climb one of the classic routes in the Rosa Plateau area. We take the first cable car up to 3480 meters and climb one of the uncomplicated peaks in the area. The ascent is not high, about 500-600 meters, on the gentle snowy slopes. But this ascent is very important for acclimatization! Plus we can enjoy great views of the Swiss and Italian sides of the massif. Overnight in Cervinia.
We go down by cable car. Today we also rest in Cervinia and admire the Matterhorn, which we have to climb in a few days! Cervinia is a very atmospheric and cozy town, where you can have a great time! We are preparing our gear for tomorrow's hike to the mountain. We spend the night in the camping.
Early ascent and drive up to the Abruzzi hut. From here we will start to the upper Lyon Ridge hut, the Karel hut. Not an easy day - today we will have to move over rocks of varying difficulty: ridges, walls, corners. In the most difficult places there are fixed ropes.
The most important day of the program! Climbing the most beautiful peak of the Alps! We rise far before dawn - because usually there are enough climbers in the Karel Hut, and we need to avoid the queues on the ridge as much as possible. A big drop and a lot of difficult terrain will require us to work hard, but, weather permitting, at the summit there will be a chance to admire a really gorgeous view! A short rest, and then we start the descent back to the hut, where we will stay for the night.
On the familiar path we go down to the Abruzzi hut and on to Cervinia. If time permits, in the evening we will relax and have a festive dinner!
We use today as a backup in case of bad weather.
We recommend taking tickets from nearby airports (Milan, Turin, Geneva) for evening flights or for the following morning flights. This way you can avoid rush, transport problems, and increase the chances of climbing in case of prolonged bad weather.
Depending on the weather conditions, condition and general wishes of the group, the teamleader has the right to make changes to the route.

The most favorable season for climbing Matterhorn is considered the period from late June to early September. This is when the weather is warmest and most stable.
To climb the Matterhorn you need to be in good physical shape. Start running 3-4 months before you start the program and train at least three times a week. Remember that it is not the speed of running that matters, but the distance. A good result is if you can run 10 kilometers at an easy pace without a significant increase in your heart rate.
In addition to endurance, you need arm strength. Do pull-ups, push-ups, or just go to a rock climbing wall. In addition to training the necessary muscle groups, you will also develop your coordination.
In summer, the temperature in Cervinia rises to +20 and above during the day, but with increasing altitude it becomes significantly colder. At the top the temperature can drop to -15. There is snow on the Matterhorn all year round.
The amount of additional expenses depends on your wishes and the weather. Minimum 50-100 € for food in Cervinia, for the transfer Geneva-Cervinia-Geneva or Milan-Cervinia-Milan + flight (about 200 €). Additional nights in mountain shelters - from another 50 € per night.
