Every year, sunny Turkey attracts tourists from all over the world, and we are no exception. Because in addition to the warm clean sea there are always beautiful landscapes of the Mediterranean, fragrant pine forests, quiet bays, fresh fruit, and the millennial history of the ancient state of Lycia. It is thanks to him, the tourist route along the Lycian Trail, a total length of more than 540 km, has become so popular in recent years. This time we will walk its central part, discovering new places every day, exploring ancient cities and their monuments, enjoying the clean mountain air and views of endless blue sea from above, occasionally going down to the shore to dip into the soft waters of the Mediterranean.
The route is of medium difficulty. The great advantage of the route is the variety of scenery: we will go up and down to the sea, passing through ancient towns and modern villages, discovering the natural beauty of the region and exploring archaeological sites, diving into ancient history that dates back many centuries before our era.

Finike is a city that is famous for its large number of yachts and... citrus fruits. About 18% of citrus fruits are produced here. In July, Finike hosts the annual Orange Festival, when there are statues and compositions of citrus fruits all over the city. It is from this region that we buy Turkish oranges in our stores. As you stroll through the streets of the city, try to find all the monuments to oranges that are here :)
We begin our hike. Today we have to walk to the ancient city of Belos. Our place of overnight stay will be in the territory of an ancient Phoenician settlement. In Belos there are many sarcophagi, remnants of the walls of old buildings, tombs and sarcophagi. There is much to see here. And at night the fabulous lights of the city of Demre light up, which we will look at from our camp site.

Today will be fragrant forest, azure sea, and ancient ruins. To begin with, we'll walk through a centuries-old cedar forest, then look at the blue lagoons spread out below. And, of course, explore the ruins of the church, where St. Nicholas once ruled the service himself.

We drop to the ancient city of Demre, which we observed from a height two days ago. We continue to explore the mysterious cities in the rocks and the beautiful remains of former civilizations.

We continue our descent to the ruins of the city of Peace. The remains of ancient Lycian tombs and a remarkably preserved amphitheater open up before our eyes. Nearby is the church of St. Nicholas (where his relics were housed in a marble sarcophagus). Perhaps even children will be interested to see the Wonderworker, who every year in December brings them gifts for their obedience :) Next, we go to the sea. We will spend the night on the shore, not far from the village of Adriake, which once served as a harbor for Mira.
We continue our hiking along the Lycian Trail. Today we will walk along the sea, exploring small coves that used to be hiding places for local pirates. Who knows, maybe we'll find one of the ancient treasures left by the pirates. We will spend the night in the ancient town Uchagyz, which is now inhabited by Turks.

Today we plan to go for a boat ride. We need a break from the backpacks. We are going to see the sunken cities of Simena and Kekova. There are ancient sarcophagi and ruins preserved here. Very often you can see entire residential quarters carved in stone and submerged by the sea. From the side of the water you can see them well.
We continue to study ancient history and excavate ancient cities for ourselves. Today we will walk to the city of Aperlae, whose ruins are spread out on a slope near the sea. After passing the ruins, we continue uphill. In the evening we will see the remains of the city of Apollo. They say this is where Apollo and his sister Artemis spent their childhood. We'll spend the night near the guesthouse in the village Bogazhzhik.

Bogazhzhik - Uzum - Fakdere
We continue our trek! And today we will go down to the sea again!) On the way we will see the ruins of an ancient fortress, and a beautiful view of the sea and the surrounding islands. We'll spend the night in a camping in one of the secluded bays.

Along the coast we are approaching the finish line of our journey. Today we will hit the best beach in the town of Kash. Then we will pass by the ancient city and come to the camping site to the town of Kash. Kash is located in a very picturesque place on the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Antiphellos. In the evening we will walk to the city center to sample some Turkish cuisine and watch the sunset illuminate the huge rocks overhanging the city.

In the morning we take a bus to Antalya or Dalaman and spend the rest of the day in the city buying souvenirs and Turkish sweets. Afterwards, we fly to home by plane

As always, we recommend buying tickets in advance, but only after our confirmation of your participation in the trek. The cheapest way to fly to Turkey is with the low-cost airline Pegasus. They fly from Kharkov and Lvov in Ukraine and other cities. They do not fly direct, but with a connection in Istanbul. But there is nothing wrong with it. The ticket price starts at 150 Euros round trip and you'd better buy tickets in advance. Allowed luggage: 20 kg + 10 kg of hand luggage.
Another good low-cost airline is Onur Air; it also flies from Odessa and connects with Istanbul. Allowed luggage: 30 kg + 10 kg of hand luggage.
From Kiev you can fly with Turkish Airlines too. It will be some more expensive.

The standard meeting point for the group is Antalya Airport Terminal 1. But in some cases the group can meet at our booked hotel or bus station in Antalya. The detailed information with the meeting place and the contacts of the guide will be sent to you 7-10 days before the start of the hike, be sure to check your e-mail!

Surely you are wondering what we will eat on a hike? Let's just say that you don't have to worry. Many participants say they eat better on the hike than they do at home. The basis of the menu is a simple meal of cereals and soups. You should not count on gourmet delicacies (although they can be).
If you do not eat any products, be sure to inform the manager so that the guide can slightly adjust the menu for you. We also recommend taking some yummies with you - nuts or sweets. Appetite on a hike is much better than at home.
Please note that the menu shown is indicative only. Guides usually have their signature dishes that they love to pamper participants with. And if you have dishes that you would like to receive on a hike, be sure to tell the manager about it, as the guide may have completely different preferences.

Turkey is a country with a mild subtropical climate. In summer it is very hot, so we try to put our hikes mainly in April-May and September-October, which are the best months for trekking in Turkey. The daytime temperature will be +25 +30 Celsius, and at night about +10.
The official currency of Turkey - Turkish lira, but almost everywhere you can pay in dollars at the rate similar to the official. However you should have some amount of lira with you (it will be useful in the stores on the route in small villages), and it is better to change it in the exchange office at the bus station. By no means change it directly at the airport - the rate there is simply robbery! Take small currency with you, cab drivers will be happy to accept it. One dollar is about seven Turkish Liras.

The total amount of extras not included in the price starts from 90€ - it depends on how to eat in the cafes and how many souvenirs to buy. There are cafes where you can eat for about 5 - 15€. Sweet tooth will want to bring home a lot of oriental delicacies for sure (it's hard to stop at the market), take it into account:).
