Skitour training is a practical course for those who want to learn the basics of skitour and start their introduction to this winter sport. It is suitable for beginners and skiers with minimal experience. During the course, you will:

Learn how to use ski-touring equipment:
Camus - special pads that are attached to the ski's sliding surface for a comfortable uphill climb.
Ski-bindings and boots - which make it easy to climb uphill and are fixed for descent, just like on regular alpine skis.
You will work out:
How to properly put on and take off crampons.
Different techniques for climbing uphill.
The basics of descending techniques.

Meeting of participants at the training skit

The training takes place in Kyiv, Protasiv Yar or Holosiievo, the location is determined depending on the snow conditions.
The meeting time is 10:00. The program lasts about 3 hours. The trainer teaches basic knowledge: techniques, how to glue the camus, adjust the bindings. Depending on your level of training, the program can have about 5 cycles of ascents and descents.

Changes in the program

Depending on the weather conditions, condition, and general wishes of the group, the coach has the right to make changes. Following the instructor's instructions is mandatory and non-negotiable.

To participate in the skitour, you must not have any illnesses incompatible with active tourism: the list is here.

Necessary equipment

The list is only for guidance. Some items can be deviated from. Clothing should be comfortable and layered. You will be moving around a lot, so choose thermal underwear, lightweight insulation, and a windproof jacket.

For an effective start in ski touring, it is advisable to have basic skiing experience. This will help you master ascent and descent techniques faster and focus on the specifics of using ski-touring equipment.

If you have no skiing experience at all, we recommend taking a lesson with a ski instructor beforehand. The instructor will teach you the basics of skiing and ski control, which will make your ski-training more comfortable and safe.

We offer this option separately to make your first skiing experience enjoyable and rewarding.

Skitouring requires special skis, crampons, boots and bindings. If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent it. Don't forget a backpack for storing crampons and small items.

Main things Special equipment

List of clothes for the skitour (for weather around 0°C)

Thermal underwear - pants and a sweatshirt to wick away moisture and keep warm.
Fleece jacket or thin down jacket - for insulation while on the move.
Wind and waterproof jacket - lightweight to protect against wind and possible precipitation.
Thermal pants or softshell pants - for freedom of movement and warmth.
A hat - thin, which fits well under the helmet (if necessary).
Gloves - light but warm (preferably with wind protection).
Buff or scarf - to protect your neck from the cold.
Socks - thermal or ski socks that retain heat and do not cause chafing.

Skate skis - lightweight skis adapted for ascents and descents.
Camus - ski pads that provide grip on the snow while climbing.
Ski-touring boots - special boots that provide comfort for walking and locking for descending.
Bindings - allow you to switch modes for ascending and descending.
Poles - preferably telescopic to adjust the height depending on the terrain.
Backpack - small enough to conveniently store crampons, water, and snacks.
Ski helmet - for safe descent.
Goggles or mask - to protect your eyes from wind and snow.
A flask or thermos - optional, for water or a warm drink.

The cost of renting equipment

Prices for the kit, what is included in it, the deposit and other information are presented in the table below. Please note that on weekdays there is a -25% discount on the rental price. It does not affect the deposit!

For understanding:

An incomplete day of rental is considered if you take out skis or other equipment and return it on the same day;
A full day is considered when you take the equipment on one day and return it the next day. If you rented the equipment in the morning (before 15:00), you need to return it at the same time the next day;
When you rented a skitour kit after 15:00, you can also return the equipment after 15:00 and before the end of the store's working hours the next day.

The cost of the program: 1000 UAH

The price includes:

Entrance fee to the snow of the ski resort;
Accompaniment of a coach during the training (up to 5 participants per coach);

Not included in the price:

Rent skis and other equipment;
Individual expenses (food, drinks, travel).

Payment procedure
