Tetnuldi is a snow-white peak with a regular shape and one of the trademarks of Svaneti. And Laila is one of the best viewing peaks of the area and a great option for the first acquaintance with mountaineering in the big mountains. Climbing Laila and Tetnuldi - is both climbing a beautiful iconic mountain, and the opportunity to observe the beautiful views of many of the highest peaks in the Caucasus, and a serious climbing experience. And a trip to Svaneti - is always a bright experience, wild nature, introduction to the culture and hospitality of the Svan people!
For beginners there is possibility to participate only in Laila climbing. After all, it is a great option for the first four-thousanders, acquaintance with climbing and mountaineering life.
This program is rarely held. But you can choose other peaks, ascents to which we conduct on a regular basis. For example, Kazbek, Elbrus or Mont Blanc by the classical route will be technically easier than Tetnuldi. If you want more difficult peaks, consider climbing Mont Blanc from Italy, traversing the three peaks of Mont Blanc or climbing the Matterhorn.
Our route involves high quality acclimatization, which increases the chances of a successful ascent.
We do not cancel or reschedule groups. If the manager has given permission to buy a ticket, you can buy it with confidence. There will be no cancellation through our fault.

Teamleaders meet the group in Mestia, or if the whole group arrives at one airport, coordinators will help to organize transfer of the whole group to Mestia. In Mestia we check the necessary equipment. At free time we can walk around the town and see its visiting card - Svanetian towers. By the way, the goal of our trip, snow-white Tetnuldi, is visible practically from any point of Mestia. In the evening we have dinner and get acquainted with the participants. Overnight at the guest house.
By car we move from Mestia to Lezgaru, a village under the northern slopes of Laila. After crossing begins a picturesque hiking track on the "green" zone in the direction of the pass Chizhdi (3100m). We spend the night in tents at the last water spots below the pass.
We get up early. Today we have to pass Chizhdi before noon, before the weather turns bad, and come to the summit camp above 3000 m, not reaching Jvari pass (3400 m). Here near the camp we will have some training, we will remember how to walk in a bundle and in crampons. We will spend the night in tents.
We get up at night. We need to get to the summit and get down to camp before the snow melts in the afternoon. We drive up the glacier plateau and then along the ridge to the top of Laila. One of the best panoramas in the Caucasus is waiting for us on the top, because you can see many famous peaks and the whole Eastern Svanetia below us! After that we return to the summit camp, pack up our things and go over Chizhdi pass to "green" overnights below it. We sleep in the tents.
We go down the already familiar path to Lezgaru and leave to Mestia by transport. The rest of the day we rest and celebrate the end of the first part of the program.
The first half of the day can be used as a half day trip. Then also by car we go to the Zhabeshi village and even higher. From there we start our way to the summit. Overnight at an altitude of about 3000 m in tents.
Today we cross the Pass of the Nest of the Amaranths and go to the very foot of the Tetnuldi pyramid. Overnight on a glacier at an altitude of 3700 m in the area of the Nageb Pass. If there is time and weather permitting we can do recon and acclimatization hike to 4000m on the way up.
Today we go on as early as possible. First we'll climb the cushion at the base of the ridge, and then climb the ridge itself to the summit. The ridge is very picturesque and viewable, but at the same time it is quite steep. But all the difficulties are compensated by the views of the surrounding peaks: Gestola, Bezengi 5000-niki and others. Short rest on the summit and descent down to the summit camp.
Along the familiar path we go down in Jabeshi and take the transport to Mestia. Holiday dinner! Overnight in guesthouse.
This day can also be used in part as a backup. In case of bad weather, etc.
If your flight is from Tbilisi, consider when choosing the time of the return flight that you will need time to move Mestia-ZugdidiTbilisi (we can also help with the organization of the transfer). Coordinators are always happy to help you find options. In any case we recommend to have 1-2 days reserve after the program to have enough time for the return trip and rest. In case of not using reserve days on the ascent, you can always rest in Mestia, Tbilisi, or go to the sea.
Although the altitude is lower than on Kazbek or Elbrus, in fact, climbing Tetnuldi is somewhat more difficult, both physically and psychologically, and can take 10+ hours.
Important! The decision on the possibility or impossibility to continue the ascent is made solely by the teamleaders, is binding in execution and is not subject to discussion. We are interested in as many participants as possible to climb the summit, but safety is always in the first place!

Weather conditions are one of the most important factors in successful climbing. The weather in the mountains changes very rapidly. To summarize, it's usually good in the morning, but in the evening it gets worse. At altitude in the evening and at night is very cold, temperatures of -10 and even -15 in the middle of summer are not uncommon. So be sure to take warm and nice clothes! The sun is often out in the daytime, at these altitudes it is especially dangerous. The sun's rays are reflected from the snow and you burn instantly. Do not forget to take sunscreen!
If you don't have your own equipment, you can rent it. Backpack and sleeping bag take in your town, we provide a place in the tent. Crampons, an ice-axe, and systems can be borrowed either in your town or from us directly on the mountain. You'll have to pay about $70 for a set of equipment.
We strongly recommend that you approach the question of preparation carefully. Start running three months before your planned ascent. It is good if you can run 10 km at a quiet pace and not be exhausted. Do not try to run fast, try to run longer. If you can measure your heart rate - run at a pulse rate of about 130-140 beats per minute. If there is no such an opportunity - run at a pace at which you can speak.
The ideal preliminary experience for climbing Tetnuldi would be:

To join an existing group only for the part of the ascent to Laila (1-5 days), 270-350 euros, depending on the number of participants in the main group.
