How to take part in a winter tour to Iceland:
- Select your preferred dates, submit your enquiry and complete the form.
- A consultant will contact you to explain the details of the programme and provide the payment details for the advance payment.
- Once you’ve paid the deposit – congratulations, your place is booked!
- The consultant confirms the booking, and you purchase your tickets to Keflavík Airport (KEF)
- Take out insurance (we’ll help and advise you) and get your gear together (we have discounts for participants at many shops).
- Meet up with your team leader, relax and make the most of your trip!
- Whilst you’re out on the trek, don’t forget to post using the hashtag #kuluarpohod, and when you get back, please give us some feedback and leave a review – we’d really appreciate it! See you on our next treks.
Payment procedure
To reserve a place on the trip, you will need to pay a deposit of €500. A consultant will send you the payment details. The remaining balance can be paid in cash to the trip leader on the first day of the trip.
No refunds will be given if you leave the route.
Additional services
The consultant will offer advice on what to pack, help you choose the best flight, and provide information on hotels and excursions. You make your own payments and purchases. If you would like the consultant to book a ticket on your behalf, additional services and a service charge apply.
Changes to the programme
Depending on the weather conditions, the group’s condition and general preferences, the team leader is entitled to make changes to the route.
Required documents
To travel to Iceland, you must have a valid Schengen visa or a biometric passport.
To take part in the programme, you must not have any medical conditions that are incompatible with active tourism: see the list here.
Weather conditions
Winters in Iceland are mild; temperatures rarely drop below -5 degrees Celsius. However, there will certainly be strong winds, which can make it feel as cold as -15. So make sure to pack warm clothes and raincoats.
Don’t skimp on equipment
As well as physical preparation, pay attention to your gear. It must be of high quality and reliable to withstand the northern rain and wind. Your comfort and enjoyment of the trek depend on your choice of kit. Good waterproof trousers and a jacket, along with comfortable waterproof boots, are essential for this trek.
