The route runs among the mountain peaks that rise above 2900 meters and have more than 30 lakes with crystal clear water and many springs - these wonders are on our way!
The trek starts from the resort where our team recovers after the flight. Comfortable beds, a swimming pool, maybe you want to visit the sauna? Rested and with our backpacks, we will walk about 70 kilometers through the picturesque mountains - every day a climb or pass, with an altitude of more than 2600 meters! And the most interesting part is the end of our trip on the top of Musala, which towers over all the surrounding mountains. We will meet the people who came by cable car from below, but this peak will belong to those who have mastered it with backpacks! Trekking along mountain trails with dizzying panoramas at an altitude of 2000-2600 m every day and meeting interesting people, spending nights in tents and sunrises in the mountains.
At the end of the walking part, after climbing Mount Musala, we use the ski lift down to the bottom. It is included in the price!

We do not cancel or reschedule groups. If a consultant has given you the go-ahead to buy a ticket, you can buy it. The program will not be canceled through our fault.

We meet in the capital Sofia (before 14:00) at the central bus station. The first meeting with the teamleader and all participants. We take a private bus to Sofia airport, where we pick up the last participants at about 14:30 and head towards Rila National Park. The journey by car is 90 km, the first 70 km we will cover quickly. The last 20 km the car slows down and begins to gain altitude to the three-star resort at an altitude of 1700 meters through coniferous forests.
At about 17:00 we check into the rooms. Before hiking in the mountains, we will recuperate in the outdoor pool, those who wish can order a sauna (not included in the price), if desired, we will take a walk in the forest surrounding the hotel on all sides.
In the evening, we can go to a local restaurant* with panoramic mountain views, where we will spend the next nights in tents. Or we can quickly prepare tourist sublimates* and go to bed - tomorrow the hike starts, and it is important to have the strength for it.

Traveled - 90 km
The morning starts with a delicious breakfast. Everyone can choose a dish to their liking - the price includes a buffet. At 9:30 we gather in the gazebo for a daily briefing and backpacking setup.
The trekking starts in a coniferous forest, where we will gradually reach the river without any sharp gains and replenish our water supply. Over the next 7 km, we will gain altitude, reaching the 2570 m pass. If the weather is favorable, we will make a break for lunch, enjoying the panorama of numerous lakes.
We will hide our backpacks and go to explore the lakes. Each lake has a different depth, shape, size and name: Ribnoto (Fish), Silzata (Tear), Bybrka (Burrow), Okoto (Eye), Bliznaka (Twin), Trilisnyka (Shamrock), Dolnoto (Lower Lake). On the way, we will meet tourists who have come from the other side by ski lift. Over time, there will be fewer of them, and the lakes will be at our disposal. We will spend the night in a tent on the shore of one of the lakes.
During the day, we will walk 10 km with backpacks; altitude gain: 770 м
Walking without backpacks ~ 3 km.
After setting up camp, we start climbing to the pass, which we didn't reach yesterday, having gone down to the lakes. We have 900 meters of horizontal distance and the first section of the ascent with a height gain of 230 meters.
Having reached the ridge, we continue to move along it. On both sides we are surrounded by steep slopes going down almost 1000 meters. We will cross two peaks over 2600 meters high - Vazov and Dodov - and approach the popular Malovica mountain. We stop for lunch, enjoying the view of the resort where we started. It looks like a small point among the trees. By the way, this is the mountain we are sitting on now, we saw from the hotel window the day before yesterday. Our task for the next few hours is to go down to the source of the river and find flat places for tents at an altitude of 2000 meters.
During the day, we will walk 11 km with backpacks; altitude gain: 440 м. Total altitude loss ~ 860m.
The backpacks are getting lighter, and the walk is getting more interesting - we have gained momentum over the previous days. Today we need to show our strength, because the longest trekking awaits us. Almost from the camp, we start a 450-meter climb to the interesting and slightly creepy Strashnoto Lake. There we will rest and take photos. We may meet a few people, but this place is not as popular as the seven lakes we visited earlier. We go further to the traverse path under the Lopushky mountain, where there are many small streams and alpine pine trees. If before that we had rested for a couple of hours, walking relatively flat or downhill, then at the 10th kilometer of our journey we have to climb, the last one for today. We climb Mount Voden Chal, which overlooks the coveted lakes, where we will stop for the night.
During the day we will walk 17 km with backpacks; altitude gain: 1130 м. Total altitude loss: 970 m.
This day will be easier and a little shorter than the previous one. At the briefing, the team leader will tell us that we will cover about 15 km, gaining and losing 700 meters per day.
From the lakes, we set off along a rocky trail that will lead us to Mount Kanarata (2691 m). The path is wide and clear, and it is comfortable to walk along. To our left is the Canary Lake, from which the valley of the White Iskar River begins. We won't even notice the top of Mount Vapa, as there are impressive panoramas and a magnificent view of the highest mountain in Bulgaria, Musala, from all sides. Tomorrow we will be on its top!
4 km before the place of overnight stay, a steep ascent to Mount Kovach (2646 m) will begin, and it's good that this segment is about 1 km. From the top we will see our goal - an old shelter, near which we will set up our tents and go inside. Many will say: it's good that we are with tents!
During the day, we will walk 15 km with backpacks; altitude gain: 730м. The total altitude drop is ~ 705 meters.
The final day of our wonderful hike starts quite early - we aim to reach the summit of Musala (2925 m) before lunch. There is one last snack left in our backpacks, which we will celebrate on the highest peak of the country, the Balkan Peninsula and all of Eastern Europe.
After enjoying our achievement, we will head in the direction of the Yastrebets Lift, which will bring us back to civilization. But our adventures don't end there - we'll have a party at a private villa, where we'll be picked up by car. We'll buy steaks and other goodies (the whole group will share the cost), sit in comfortable chairs and celebrate the end of our hike.
During the day we will walk 14 km with backpacks; altitude gain: 930м. Total altitude loss: 770 m.
Today is the end of our adventure in Bulgaria. We wake up, have breakfast and pack our bags. Around 10:00 we have a transfer to the capital. When planning your flight, we advise you to choose it after 15:00. Or stay in the country and go towards the Black Sea, sunbathe for a couple of days.

Despite the fact that the hike takes place in the summer, and many people associate Bulgaria with warmth and the sea, take warm clothes and high-quality equipment with you!
Not everywhere there are flat places for tents. A lot of small stones, a rather large slope and wetlands limit the number of tents per group!

You're probably wondering what we're going to eat on the trip. We can tell you right away that you don't need to worry. Many participants say that they eat better on the hike than at home. The menu is based on simple and high-quality products. Do not count on gourmet delicacies (although they may be available).
We also have a special menu for vegetarians - if you don't eat meat, be sure to read it. We tell you how we will feed you and give you a 5% discount on our products.
