A really lovely 12-day trek. It was great that we started with an acclimatisation night at an altitude of 2,900 metres, followed by an acclimatisation hike up to Poon Hill at 3,200 metres, and then spent the night at a lower altitude, which gave us time to acclimatise..
Roma is an incredibly attentive guide who checked in on the group’s wellbeing every day and monitored our oxygen saturation levels every morning and evening. He also really lifted the team’s spirits when the going got tough: he’d play mantras and draw our attention to different things, such as the plants growing around us or the insects and animals we came across. We even spotted some wild Nepalese bees with him!
Roma is also a really interesting person to talk to; you can discuss a thousand and one topics with him, and he won’t get bored, even if you ask him 100 times whether we’ll be reaching the balcony any time soon.
Roma also used to take people on climbs, and if you’re interested in climbing, he can answer all your questions.
