We are gradually abandoning the "basic" package.
Now we are preparing for the next season, recalculate the cost of programs (unfortunately, due to the rise in price of everything, the majority must raise prices, but there are some, where we leave the past).
Perhaps you have seen that on some programs we had a "basic" - the bare package, which includes the services of a team leader and food (not everywhere) and "optimal" - which includes all (or the vast majority) of the mandatory costs.
The participants of the basic package usually had to pay the difference to the optimal one. There was no saving.
So why was there a need for this division?
- The appearance of low cost. Many other clubs have just the base price. The name of the program is the same, you open two websites and on the first you see a price of 250 euros, and on the second 700. What's your reaction? At the second site they are completely overcharged, I'll go for 250. Maybe there's less included, but the extra cost can't be 450 euros (almost twice the cost). And in fact it can. That's why we put the base 250, and the optimal 700.
- Discounts from the base. For many people, the size of the discount in percentage terms is important. And we have them quite large: the base is 10% for consistency, plus 10% for a friend. So it's easy to get 20%. How cool is that? But 20% of 250 is 50 euros, and of 700 is 140 euros. Moreover, in the second option, discounts are not from our services, for which we also pay full price. We must either add on top of these services 20% to take into account the discount (which we did not do), or 90 euros on the fact pay from your budget. And such a participant can already be "minus" for us, even with a full group. And that's not cool.
These are the two main reasons why we had the basic package and why many other clubs have only it.
Why do we refuse?
- Less stress. If the costs are mandatory and they will definitely be, what's the point of constantly collecting money for them and stressing the participants with finances unnecessarily?
- The flip side. Although the basic package is not a deception (because what is included and what is not - described on the site), but still misleading. For example, when the program in South America are $ 700 on the site, and additional mandatory costs another 3000 - the real cost turns out to be 3700.
Therefore, in the new calculations we are guided by logic: include all the mandatory costs of the program, but do not include variable - excursions, meals in restaurants, etc.
And the discount system will be changed to a bonus system. About that soon.
