Hi friends, we continue to share the news of the Everest and Lhotse 2021 expedition. The participants successfully visited the summit of the six-thousandth peak Lobuche and descended to the base camp.
The expedition members climbed Eastern Lobuche on Saturday, April 24. The plan was to do it earlier, but we were stuck in the Pyramid Hotel for 3 days because of heavy snowfalls. Fortunately, it's a very good place to wait out the bad weather:)
On Friday, April 23, we set out from Pyramid to Lobuche Assault Camp. The hike took 4-5 hours on a not very pleasant snowy trail. We started on Saturday night (about 2 hours after midnight). The mountain turned out to be more difficult than they had expected: there were some steep sections, which we had to climb with jumar. After a successful ascent to the top, which offers great views of the surrounding eight-thousanders, we began the descent to the assault camp, which we got to around 14-00 local time.
On the same day there was a touching farewell to the guys for whom the main goal of the trip was to climb Lobuche. They, accompanied by guide Kuluar, went down to Feriche, and the main part of the Everest-Lhotse expedition team continued to Everest base camp, where they spent the next 3 days resting after Lobuche and making plans for the near future.
At this time Nikita Balabanov, who is planning to climb Everest, had time to hold training sessions for the participants on the Khumbu glacier, and Taras Pozdnii, going to Lhotse, had time to take cool photos.
On the night from Wednesday to Thursday the participants set off for Everest Camp 1 at 6100m. They are planning to spend 1 night there, and then another 2-3 nights at 6490m with ascent to 7100m and further descent to the Base Camp.
