The "Winter ascent of Hoverla and Petros" trek. The organization was top-notch as always: clear logistics, a packed program, tasty food in generous amounts, a warm-hearted group, and the guide (Oleg Savva) a true professional and an interesting person. After the trek I was left with a ton of impressions, experience, and a desire to explore the mountains.
During the summer treks the guides told such fascinating stories about the mountains in winter that I really wanted to see this beauty, but I was scared off by the cold and the harsh conditions of a winter trek, so I decided to make a trial attempt and go for the hut-to-hut trip to Hoverla and Petros. On this trek I felt the strength and power of nature — we didn't manage to climb Hoverla because of unfavorable conditions: sunshine at the foot of the mountain and wind knocking you off your feet up top, and you realize how little control you have over yourself, everything is in nature's hands, while Petros let us climb up and feel all the difficulties and, along with that, the pleasure of reaching the summit and the beauty of nature.
