Today I invite you to a fabulous place, the most beautiful mountainous area in Europe - the Dolomites. They are located in the northeastern region of Italy, near the border with Austria.

This part of the Alps got its name thanks to the French explorer Deodus da Dolomier, who actually discovered and studied this region.

During this hike, we saw rocky mountain peaks, spectacular lakes of heavenly color, evergreen protected forests, unsurpassed views from rocky trails, alpine meadows and small settlements with toy houses...
Our base camp is located in the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Cortina is called the "Queen of the Dolomites". The mountain peaks of Tofane, Cristallo and Pomagagnon give it a special beauty. In summer it is a paradise for hikers, and in winter it is a prestigious ski resort.

We settled in a campsite at an altitude of 1200 meters, at the foot of the alpine peaks.

Every tourist in the Dolomites must try to do a one-day trekking around the mountain range - the Three Teeth (Tre Cime di Lavaredo), which consists of three peaks, one of which barely reaches the 3-kilometer height of 2999 meters. This place is a visiting card of the Dolomites.
Around are mountain ranges with mountains of unique shapes, and somewhere far, far below is the Cadore Valley and the town of Auronzo di Cadore.

These are the high-mountain emotions. And how can you do without them? We go up to the mountains for this "adrenaline rush"...
While trekking in the Dolomites, we often came across so-called rifugios (rifugio - Italian), which are modest budget lodgings, i.e. shelters. From Zarza we will come to the rifugio Lavaredo, located at an altitude of about 2350 meters, two kilometers from the start of the route around Tre Cime. The scenery around the refuge is just fantastic.

Morning in the Alps... I smile in anticipation of a miracle. Today we are going to one of the most beautiful places in the Dolomites - Lake Sorapis. When I first saw its turquoise shore in the photos, surrounded by white and pink mountains and green forests, I was overcome with an irresistible feeling: "I'm going to get there. I need to see it," was constantly running through my head. And it happened! Dreams do come true, you just have to want it badly...

After leaving the forest, we stepped onto a stone path that was getting narrower and more slippery. Millions of "tourist feet" polished the stone to a shine.

These stunningly beautiful landscapes end our journey through the Dolomites. If you, dear friends, liked this land and my photo stories, I will be happy.

See you soon!
The world is big and beautiful!
