All the peaks were in the palm of my hand

In April 2025, I walked the route from Kathmandu-Pokhara to Annapurna Base Camp.

I would like to thank the Kuluar Tour Club for a very well organized trip, for all the thoughtful details and trifles. Thank you, Kuluar.

I would especially like to thank our team leader, Yulia Yuras.

She combines organizational skills, sports and mountaineering achievements, as well as understanding of the situation and the ability to adapt to the capabilities of the group members. Thank you, Yulia.

I would also like to express my special gratitude to the local guide Jog Bahadur Gurung, or simply Jog. It was with him, because of my slow pace, that I went through the most difficult parts of the route. Thank you, Jog.
So if you are slow and have difficulty eating uphill, don't worry, there is always someone in the team who will take care of you.
I also wanted to leave a little advice from my experience for future participants of this hike.
  • Be sure to take knee pads with you, even the simplest ones, even if you don't have knee problems. They do not take up much space, but on the trekking to ABC they will help you overcome all the ascents and all the descents.
  • If you are also not a big fan of winter hiking and like me have only an autumn-spring sleeping bag (comfort +5, extreme 0) and don't want to spend money on a warmer sleeping bag, then I can give you good news. In each lodge on this track you will be given a thick blanket. And you first put on warm pajamas/thermal underwear, then your sleeping bag, and then cover yourself with the blanket. And voila - you don't get cold.

  • I also strongly advise you to bring a thermos. Even a small one, for one or two cups. Your favorite hot sweet tea will warm you up and give you the strength to overcome those meters that separate you from your goal.
  • It's more of a little secret. You don't have to climb to the top of Poon Hill to watch the sunrise overlooking the big mountains. After the steps with white handrails end, you will see a small bench. This place offers the same view as the top, but without the crowds and without a steep climb. Of course, stop there only with the permission of your guide.
I wish everyone a cheerful company and blue skies, so that all the peaks are in the palm of your hand.
